Instant Alerts

What are Instant Alerts?

Instant Alerts are an incredibly powerful tool used to reunite you with your pet the fastest.

Imagine this, you are out going about your day when you come across a lost pet... the first thing you would want to do is let the owner that their pet has been found, right?

Instant Alerts allow you to do that. Whoever scans the tag will have the ability to share their location with the pet's owner right away, drastically decreasing the amount of time needed for them to be reunited.

How do they work?

Instant Alerts use the location services of the device used to scan the tag to generate a real-time GPS location that can be shared with the pet's owner.

This location is sent via text message directly to the owner, letting them know that their pet has been found along with a Google Maps pin of where the tag was scanned, which will be next to their missing pet.

How can I share my location with the pet owner?

Firstly, you need to scan the QR code on the back of the Crumb tag, you will then be brought to their pet profile.

Once you are on the pet profile, select the "Share Location" button and provide consent to share your location. Just like this👇

The owner will then be notified via text message right away that their pet has been found.

FAQs

I tested the "Share Location" button... it is not showing where my pet is, why?

The "Share Location" button will text the pet's owner the live location of the device that scanned the tag.

This means that even if the pet profile was loaded next to the pet and then sometime later the Share Location button was pressed, it will instantly text the owner the location of the device that pressed the "Share Location" button, at the time the button was pushed.

Similarly, if you were to scan the QR code on the tag then change locations (let's say by walking to the end of the road), and then click the "Share Location" button, the text message sent to the owner will include a GPS pin of where the button was pressed (in this example, it would be from the end of the road).

How long does it take for the text to be sent?

The text message will be sent instantly to the owner.

Why does the person who scans the tag need to click the "Share Location" button? Why does it not text the owner right away?

The person who clicks the Share Location button needs to provide their consent to share their location.

Sharing the location without consent is a breach of privacy rules.

Why don't I have the Share Location button on my Pet's profile?

Instant alerts are currently available to Crumb Premium and Premium Plus members.
